Children & Young People
The needs and interests of children and young people are at the heart of the Welsh Assembly Government’s vision for a better Wales.
The Welsh Assembly Government has adopted the United Nations Conventions on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) as the basis of all its work for children and young people in Wales. This was translated into seven Core Aims (which have recently been rebranded under the banner CYMRU IFANC/ YOUNG WALES) to help ensure that the Assembly and everyone in Wales works in a way that ensures all children and young people can:
- OUR START - have a flying start in life;
- OUR SKILLS - access to good education and learning opportunities;
- OUR HEALTH - good health, freedom from abuse and exploitation
- OUR ACTION - access to play, leisure, sport and culture;
- OUR VOICE - be respected and listened to;
- OUR SAFETY - a safe home and community;
- OUR FUTURE - freedom from poverty.
These core aims have also been drawn up to ensure that children and young people feel protected and provided for, listened to and valued.
However, we ALL play a part in ensuring this happens!!!
The Welsh Assembly Government require us here in Wrexham to produce a three year strategic plan which explains exactly what we are going to do in the future (based on the seven core aims above) for the benefit of children, young people and their families. This plan is called the Wrexham Children and Young People's Plan. This is a very important plan and outlines how locally we are united in our determination to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families in Wrexham and to deliver high quality appropriate and responsive services. The voluntary and community sector plays a key role in this! Please click here to find out more on the Plan.
In addition to the Wrexham Children and Young People's Plan, this section of the website intends to give both voluntary and community organisations along with children and young people from the voluntary and community sector, the opportunity to find out how the can influence and help shape the service planning, delivery and evaluation of high quality of services for children, young people and their families in Wrexham…
