Online Self-Management Courses

Free Online Self-Management Courses are now available in Wrexham, Flintshire, Conwy, Denbighshire, Gwynedd, Anglesey. The Online Course is an internet-based, interactive self-management course to help people learn to manage the day-to-day issues associated with living with any long-term condition(s). You can now complete this course in the comfort of your own home.

The Online Course can be particularly useful for those who have difficulty getting out of the house, live in rural areas, work full time or in full time education or who would prefer to do the course online rather than face-to-face.

A user name and email address allows course participants to log on to the course remotely, 2-3 times per week, for a total of 2 hours each week. The course lasts 6 weeks and participants can access the course at anytime and anywhere there is internet access.

Course participants learn to:

· Manage pain and extreme tiredness

· Cope with feelings of depression

· Relaxation techniques and exercise

· Healthy eating

· Action planning and problem solving techniques

· Communication skills with healthcare professionals, friends, family and colleagues.

Free Intermediary Training

Turn2us helps anyone in financial need to access the money available to them through welfare benefits, charitable grants and other financial help, using their website at www.turn2us.org.uk or their freephone telephone helpline.

For anyone offering advice and support in an Intermediary role, Turn2us also has additional services and tools and is currently providing free training on how to effectively use the one stop website to help their clients.

Taking 3.5 hours, the training session on the live website will enable each Intermediary to;

· Undertake welfare benefits entitlement checks

· Identify appropriate charities to approach for grants for individuals

· Undertake on-line enquiries and applications

· Register their own Turn2us account to manage and save searches

· Search the Turn2us money management resources for information to help develop client financial capacity

This training will benefit any workers or volunteers involved in supporting individuals in financial need who may not have the resources to use Turn2us themselves. The training is provided with the support of Elizabeth Finn Care and the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust.
